Our Core Beliefs

The foundation of our faith and practice

Trinity of the Godhead

We believe that God exists in three persons–God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit–each distinct, yet all of singular essence in terms of attributes and perfection and wholly deserving of our worship. We believe in one living and true God who is in heaven and earth’s Creator; almighty, everlasting, unchangeable, all- powerful, all-knowing, omnipresent, just, and holy.

Holy Scriptures

We believe in the veracity, authority, and power of the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God. We believe in both the Old and New Testaments that it is written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it is infallible in the original manuscripts. We make bold to say that the scripture is not only historic but also poetic, doctrinal, and prophetic. In its centrality, the Bible is thus an absolute authority in all matters of faith and practice at ICA.

Deity of Jesus Christ

We uphold the self-evident truth that Jesus Christ was of virgin birth as the Son of God in human flesh; that he died for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again on the third day, and ascended to the Father according to the Scriptures. We believe that He lived a sinless life and that he was crucified to redeem humanity from the shackles of sin.

Power of the Holy Spirit

All the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work in ICA are pivotal for the mission of our Church, and are to be earnestly desired and nurtured. We believe that the Holy Spirit also empowers believers for Christian work and witness to others. We believe that our lives on earth are to be lived in the power of the Holy Spirit, who indwells believers, enabling them to live holy lives set apart for Jesus Christ.

Empowerment

We believe in empowering our members through education, community service, and spiritual growth for holistic transformation.

Community

We believe in the Unity of the body of Christ and his everlasting edict to his followers to frequently break bread together in love. We believe that the purpose of the Church in the world is to glorify God through worship, prayer, the teaching of the Word, observance of the ordinances, the exercise of our gifts and talents, and the proclamation of the gospel both in our community and throughout the world. We seek to plant Churches in localized settings and communities to strengthen love and cohesion between believers.
